Ori Barel - Composer
Ori Barel is an electronic and acoustic music composer. His music has been performed by the Ear Unit, New Century Players, The Formalist Quartet, Calarts Orchestra and Haim Shtrum at venues such as: Redcat (Los Angeles), Ballhaus (Berlin), Santandler Festival (Spain), Soundwalk (Long Beach) and many others.
In 2008 his piece Marcovaldo, based on Italo Calvino's book, was performed by Mark Menzies and the Calarts orchestra. In adittion he has writen extensively for film including features. Barel earned a B.A. in Music Composition at UCLA where he studied with Roger Bourland and Paul Chihara and a Masters degree at CalArts where he studied with Michael Jon Fink, Ulrich Krieger, Marc Sabat, Michael Pisaro and Anne LeBaron.
